Biking brotherhood and what it means

Facebook browsing now a days has been nothing less than a shit-storm of pics and tags of budding biking groups and clubs and photo shoots of their rides, and in the end they claim that they follow the safe riding philosophy and all hail to the biking brotherhood. Now this pisses me off, because right from the pics and videos they post anybody with normal brain activity would recognize that they are causing nothing but a lot of nuisance to everybody around them.

I sometimes feel that the bike manufacturers nowadays more than selling bikes are trying to sell the “Biking as a lifestyle” image to the people.

Well, they can’t be blamed fully , coming to think of it , I sometimes feel that the bike manufacturers nowadays more than selling bikes are trying to sell an “Biking as a lifestyle” image to the people. And that is exactly what they have managed to do, making complete use of the onset of the biking scene in India. Now that in some ways is a good thing, for some people it might be the calling they have been waiting for, but sadly it has gone overboard, this idea is sold to people who do not quite understand what it really means. It’s all a very clever plan actually ,the bloke who might have come up with the idea probably doesn’t know what biking is all about, it probably doesn’t mean squat to him anyways, but what he knows is that inherently majority of the consumers are stupid and will fall for it, why ? because it looks cool. And all you need to do is get a few guys to do it and then the guy next door does it and then suddenly everybody is doing it, domino effect, it’s real people.

The thing that attracts them most about riding in groups on their flashy bikes is that they get a lot of attention to themselves

The thing that attracts them most about riding in groups on their flashy bikes is that they get a lot of attention to themselves, but they do not know what to do with it, they see others do it , find it awesome as fuck and then run behind it like being in a biking group is the ultimate aim in life, apparently I’m getting much more attention than I deserve, so fuck everything else. So they ride in group, breaking multiple laws every few minutes, squidding it all the way, riding without formation, racing others within the group, hardly any respect or regard for the safety of those within the group or outside. And they think it is Ok, because apparently I’m getting much more attention than I deserve, so fuck everything else. While at one end these guys go about causing havoc , at another end there are proper biking groups who understand what biking is all about and just want to ride along with their biking buddies or brothers without bothering others while at it. While they also attract huge attention , because when they ride in groups its majestic as fuck , they ride in an orderly fashion, they don’t leave behind a mess and they care for each one in the group. That is some of the basic stuff that comes under the biking brotherhood. They are the ones who get affected because of the nitwits mentioned first. While in a proper group, each rider benefits, as they share experiences and learn a lot of things from riders who have ridden much more and seen the world much more , and are lead by a rider who is the wisest among them all , who manages to hold the group as a single unit. At the other end , it is a constant dog fight on who will be the leader of the group, probably the guy with the most costliest bike, yeah, sounds fucking legit..! Apparently for them the guy with more money in the bank deserves to be the leader, doesn’t matter if his riding experience to share is that Sunday ride to drink some overpriced coffee and the number of likes he got for that morning ride check-in.

It is not about the bike, it doesn’t matter if your bike can hit 100kmph or 200kmph , if it costs 20lakhs or just 70k. What matters is the rider riding it and the places he is been, the experience he has had. That is how the strength of the group is measured.

In a proper group it is not about the bike, it doesn’t matter if your bike can hit 100kmph or 200kmph , if it costs 20lakhs or just 70k. What matters is the rider riding it and the places he has been, the experiences he has had. That is how the strength of the group is measured. At the other end, it is just smack opposite, it is all about the top speed your bike can hit, how expensive the bike is, this is the place where if you have a cheaper bike than other you are looked down upon, and the strength of the group is measured on the number of expensive bikes they have, for them it’s all about the price tag of the bike, not about biking, not about experiences. They are gone so out of hand to the point that they are scouting members with rare bike to join their group , just for the bragging rights. It is nothing but a fucking mockery going on. Just the other day a friend of mine told this story where he was scouted by 2 guys to join their club because he had a rare bike, because apparently, that is the only bike not present in their fucking group. I am not talking out of my ass here, I have been there and done that. At first even I used to be interested in the big group/club thingy. I was new to the biking community thing. But I always made it a point to chose the groups wisely. I got into a group where I found many experienced bikers/tourers , went to meets and rides with them, learned a lot about riding, about safe riding and grew as a individual and as a rider, it makes me proud to tell that I am part of the group, I am not naming the group here because it is not important. But most people now a days do not choose wisely, they seem to go to groups having the most fanciest bikes, they ride around irresponsibly, and they have a misplaced sense of pride, thinking what they do is right, I lose respect for such bikers instantly. Then a special mention goes to a few groups , these are cult followers, they know nothing about biking , or about bikes , all they know is that the bike they ride is the only real bike in the world. Yes, no prize for guessing these groups, the infamous Royal Enfield(RE) clubs, now don’t get me wrong there are many RE riders who are absolutely awesome riders and probably many RE groups that are awesome which has awesome riders, but then there are these attention whores RE riders who think that RE is the only real bike and all other bikes are plastic toys. I mean, there is nothing legendary about a bike manufactured in the late 2000’s when all the latest tech is available at their disposal, yet these bikes manages to croak every now and then or leaks oil every fucking time and they come up with the worst argument thinkable for defending it, which goes something like this “It makes a man out of a boy” and “Only real men can handle maintaining a RE” . Give me a break, I know some people were dropped as a baby , but these bunch were clearly thrown at a wall. That might explain their in-ability to process anything logical. There are many more tales to be said, but I do not have the liberty of time for writing it down here. The bottom line is , this kind is the scum you want to avoid if you are getting into motorcycling. Seriously, it is not worth it. So , to wind it up, whenever I see some post from some guy claiming his is the best group out here and then labels it in the name of brotherhood, all i can ever think of as a response is this. Meme 7366   I mean , do whatever you want, it’s your life, I don’t give a shit, neither does any other biker out there, but stop insulting the name of biking or the brotherhood we share with your fucking lame posts.   Cheer Ride Safe Krishna

  1. I agree to your RE statement and the way you present it. The quality of the bike is getting worse and new born riders are making their RE as fancy bike. Most of them are copy cats !! hope you are aware of the new law (for bullet riders) in Indore, if they altered the sound, its a threat for pedestrians and annoying the public and that’s enough to make you stand behind the bars. Hope it will soon spread all over India.
    Kudos !!
